Welcome, let's dive right in!
Making the decision to share openly my mental health journey is both terrifying and liberating. Life with major depressive disorder has been a roller coaster to say the least. My hope is that by sharing my journey, you will find the strength to share yours, even if its just with one family member, friend, or therapist. I know having a tribe around me has carried me through. I am a wife, a mother of three kids and two dogs. I was raised by a single mom, that showed me what it meant to do the right thing. I have loved reading and writing since I was a child. I have also loved competing in sports. Began running track at a very young age and played soccer most of my life. I fell in love with a new sport at the age of thirty-six, tennis. My happy place is hiking in the mountains with my family, there is no place I feel more at peace. I love learning about other people and what makes them tick. I value my friendships, the real ones. The ones that are raw and leave you feeling full. Known in my circle for being blunt, I have learned it is both a strength and a weakness. Fortunately for me, my mom and my husband have taught me over the years the value of diplomacy. I think kindness is what is needed most in the world. My favorite quote is, "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about."
Most importantly, what I want you to know is you are not alone, your story is important, and you have value and purpose.
